If You´re traveling in Asia and are looking for breakfast, many hotels and restaurants are serving a so called “Asian breakfast”.
Asian breakfast usually means rice soup or rice porridge (congee), in Thailand called Khao tom (rice soup) or Jok (rice porridge). Thai rice soup is delicious, easily digestible and stomach friendly and is also widely served in Asian hospitals.

…but there is also a minus with Khao Tom Asian Breakfast, it fills up just for a short while and mostly one hour later Your stomach rumbles again.

Recipe: Asian breakfast Thai rice soup khao tom
Ingredients:
1 l water
300 g cooked Thai rice
1-2 coriander roots (cracked)
1 stock cube pork
1 teaspoon pickled Thai cabbage, minced
100 g minced meat
2 teaspoons light soy sauce
1 small garlic clove, minced
freshly ground, black pepper
1-2 teaspoons garlic oil with roasted garlic
coriander or celery leaves
spring onion (cutted in small rolls)



Preparation:
Mix soy sauce, minced meat and garlic and form small dumplings. Heat 1 l water and if boiling, add the stock cube, rice and coriander roots. Stir well and simmer for about 5 minutes, then add the minced meat dumplings and simmer for another 10 minutes. Garnish with coriander or celery leaves, roasted garlic, garlic oil and spring onion rolls and serve with condiments (roasted Thai chili flakes, sugar, fishsauce and chili in vinegar) to spice up.
